The third quarter 2024 earnings season is coming to a close for Canadian-listed companies. A month ago, I published my Third Quarter Earnings Preview, sharing some predictions and companies to watch. Let’s review those predictions and see how they played out!
I'm mostly focused on microcaps, which I define as <$300 million market cap. I think microcaps were hit harder than smallcaps ($300m to a few billion $ in market cap) from 2021 to 2023, so they had more torque to the upside. That said, smallcaps are probably subject to the same macro dynamics. Lower interest rates and more risk appetite should be positive for microcaps and smallcaps.
What are your thoughts on small cap companies? Will you be expecting a run anytime soon?
